Ruger Introduces All American-Made SR1911 Pistol

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the Ruger® SR1911™, an "All American" classic rendition of John Browning's most famous handgun design. The public debut of the Ruger SR1911 pistol will take place during the NRA Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania April 29 - May 1.

The single-action .45 Auto Ruger SR1911 features a bead-blasted stainless steel frame and slide, precision CNC machined for a precise slide-to-frame fit. The stainless steel barrel and bushing are produced simultaneously, from the same ordnance-grade barstock, for a precise fit and improved accuracy. The slide features rear cocking serrations and a dovetailed three-dot sight system with a Novak® rear sight and standard front sight.

"We are very proud to offer a 1911 pistol, an icon of American gun design and manufacturing," said Ruger CEO Michael Fifer. "In this 100-anniversary year of the introduction of the Government Model 1911 it is only fitting that such a firearm be completely manufactured in America with all American-made components."

The Ruger SR1911 pistol features a titanium firing pin and heavy firing pin spring, which negates the need for a firing pin block, offering an updated safety feature to the original "Series 70" design without compromising trigger pull weight. An extended thumb safety offers improved manipulation and an oversized beavertail grip safety provides positive function and reliability. A visual inspection port offers visual confirmation of a round in the chamber.

Positive extraction is facilitated by an improved internal extractor. The plunger tube for both the slide stop and thumb safety is integral to the frame and will never shoot loose. The swedged link pin also will not shoot loose. The SR1911 uses a skeletonized hammer and an aluminum, skeletonized trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop. The Ruger SR1911 features a standard recoil guide system and flat mainspring housing.

The Ruger SR1911 grips feature a Ruger logo in checkered hardwood panels. Each pistol is shipped with one 7-round and one 8-round stainless steel magazine, bushing wrench and a soft case. The SR1911 will fit currently available holsters.

Update 6/8/2009

First field test of the SR556- Sheridan, Wyoming. Ruger factory sponsored prairie dog hunt. We were privileged to attend the hunt, and an Impact employee was the first to take an animal with the SR556 rifle!

Function and reliability were 100%. The dog town we were shooting at had dogs out to 360 yards. All ranging was done using the new Ziess 8x binoculars with range and holdover function. Even with a low 10x scope, dogs were taken all the way out to 361 yards. Very impressive for any rifle, and even more so for a carbine!

We were shooting Hornady TAP ammo, 55g, loaded into the P-Mags that are included with each rifle. Effect on the targets was devastating. Multiple hits and complex gymnastics by the dogs were the norm.

All in all, our experience with the SR556 was beyond our expectations. The gas system gives the gun a softer recoil that a standard gas AR, and the chamber/bolt area was much cleaner that a gas AR. This SR556 is a keeper, and a really good value with all the good kit that is part of the base rifle.

Update Fall 2011: We have sold literally hunderds of the Ruger SR556 rifles. They are incredibly reliable and several of our customers report that even after thousands of rounds (some without cleaning) they have not experienced a single malfunction!

This is the lightest carbine in the Bushmaster line, and features the Chrome Lined Super Light 16" Barrel, which is turned from .670" to .565" diameter under the hand guard, .625" diameter under the sight base, and .570" diameter out to the muzzle. Kel-Tec PMR-30 is a light weight, full size pistol chambered for the flat-shooting .22Magnum cartridge (.22WMR). The PMR-30 operates on a unique hybrid blowback/locked-breech system. This operation system allows for the use of a wide variety of ammunition as it seamlessly adjusts between locked breach and blowback operation, depending on the pressure of the cartridge.

It uses a double stack magazine of a new design that holds 30 rounds and fits completely in the grip of the pistol. The trigger is a crisp single action with an over-travel stop. The manual safety is a thumb activated ambidextrous safety lever (up for SAFE, down for FIRE). The slide locks back after the last shot and a manual slide lock lever is also provided. The light, crisp trigger pull and fiber optic sights make the PMR-30 ideal for target shooting and hunting small game.

STRONG, LIGHT WEIGHT CONSTRUCTION

The Kel-Tec PMR-30 weighs only 13.5 oz. empty. It's slide and barrel are 4140 steel and frame is precistion machined from 7075 aluminum. The PMR-30 grip, slide cover, trigger, mag release, and safety levers are glass reinforced nylon (Zytel), much like other Kel-Tec Pistols. Dual opposing extractors improve reliability, heel magazine release aids with magazine retention, dovetailed aluminum front sight allows easy windage adjustment. The PMR-30 disassembles for cleaning by removal of a single pin.

LOW RECOIL, RAPID FOLLOWUP SHOTS

PMR-30 uses a unique hybrid blowback/locked-breech system that seamlessly adjusts to fit the pressure of the cartridge. Recoil buffer and dual captive co-axial recoil springs combined with the crisp, short-reset trigger allow high rate of aimed fire. The barrel is fluted for light weight and effective heate disssipation. A picatinny rail is provided for mounting lights and lasers.
